Chief David Goldstein

David B. Goldstein has been a police officer for more than 38 years. He is currently the Chief of Police in the City of Franklin. Before assuming his present position, he was the Chief of Police for the Winthrop, Mass., Police Department from 2004-09.

He served in a number of roles as a member of NH State Police from 1982 until he retired with the rank of captain in 2004. Among them:  Uniform Patrol, Field Training Officer, investigations of Crimes Against Children, Undercover Narcotics Investigations, Major Crime Unit, SWAT/Crisis Negotiations, and Polygraph Examiner.

Prior to the state police, Chief Goldstein was a sworn member of the Derry, NH Police Department from 1979 to 1982.

Chief Goldstein holds a B.A. in Psychology from Boston University, an M.S. in Public Health from Tufts University and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Human Services from Walden University. He is also a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology/Psychology at Tufts University. He holds or has held adjunct teaching positions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also instructs at police academies in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Chief Goldstein is a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and is Board Certified in Forensic Traumatology by that organization. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners.

He has been married to Carol for 36+ years and has lived in Auburn since 1983. They have a 33-year-old daughter, Rachel, who lives in Manchester. Carol and Dave live with two dogs and two cats. In his spare time, Dave is a skydiving instructor, a SCUBA diving instructor and holds a 4^th degree black belt in Chinese Herchun Karate/Kung Fu.
