Meet Sheryl Campanie: CASA Cards for a Cause Artist

We asked friends, families, and supporters of CASA to generously submit any original artwork they thought would make a great greeting card. We were graciously overwhelmed by the amount of support we received from everyone: 70 artists submitted over 100 pieces to the fundraiser. Meet Sheryl Campanie: one of the 19 artists whose piece was chosen to help benefit victimized children in New Hampshire.

Sheryl Campanie is an artist native to New York, now residing in Bedford. She says that a lot of her inspiration comes from the beauty that nature has to offer here. Now, shes uses painting therapeutically, saying “It allows you to express your inner perceptions and share them with your viewers.” To learn about her passions, we asked Sheryl a few questions:

CASA: Tell us about yourself! What is your background? Do you primarily create art or do you have other hobbies/careers?
SHERYL: As a native from Oneida, New York, I have loved living in New Hampshire for the past few years. New Hampshire has so much to offer! My career as a Dental Hygienist allowed me to meet people from all walks of life. Many summers were spent in the Adirondack Mountains, taking photos and communing with nature. I’ve always enjoyed making “Nature’s Creations“ using naturals; stones, shells, driftwood. Watercolor classes sparked my interest in painting. Now I’m taking acrylic lessons at the a senior center in Manchester. Painting has become a therapeutic passion.

CASA: Do you have a process you typically use to generate new ideas?
SHERYL: Nature inspires me with new ideas. We travel to explore new places then I incorporate these ideas into my paintings.

CASA: What are three words you would use to describe your artistic style?
SHERYL: In three words, I guess my style would be  natural, realistic, and freedom. However, I’ve been dabbling in abstract paintings that will be shown at the Argh Gallery.

Sherly finished off her interview by saying, “Thank you for the opportunity to share my work. It’s such a worthy cause to support – even if it only helps one child.” CASA Cards for a Cause wouldn’t be around if it weren’t for artists like Sheryl and every other artist who submitted to the  fundraiser. This is yet another way that ordinary people can make extraordinary efforts in combating child abuse and neglect in New Hampshire. There are so many way to help, so thank all of you who have done so.
