In its eighth year, the tournament was held Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Passaconaway Country Club in Litchfield. Each year since its inception, the tournament has raised money for the endowment fund at CASA in John’s name.
The tournament was created in 2011 in the year following John’s untimely death. John was the president of Harvey Construction and a group of his friends and colleagues came together to establish this tournament as a way to give back to CASA, a charity John was passionate about. He was a member of the board at the time of his death.
Each year, a committee of his peers reaches out to businesses and friends for sponsorships and players to hit the links in memory of their friend.
“Many of you have participated in this tournament for 8 years and we’re really grateful for the continued support,” CASA CEO Marcia Sink said during the post-tournament lunch. “Over these eight years this tournament has now collectively raised about $400,000 for CASA and that money goes directly into our endowment fund, which is the John Zahr Endowment Fund. Thank you all. It’s really a pleasure to be with you and we appreciate your support.”
