What a great day it was at Loon Mountain on February 3rd for our 17th annual Snowfest! The bright, sunny day made skiing and riding conditions perfect and created a stunning setting for the 9-hole golf course designed and built by Loon groomer Micheal “Shad” Shardlow. We had new golfers figuring out the course, and returning golfers testing new strategies. Dave Pushee took some great action shots of all of our participants as they made their way down the Blue Ox trail.
Our participants took a break from the trails for a great buffet lunch provided by the Common Man, and bought raffle tickets to have the chance at over 30 prizes graciously donated by New Hampshire businesses. The top raffle item was a New England Gold Pass for the 2017-18 season, a $1,309 value. Other raffle items were Fischer skis and boots, a Lahout’s cross country ski package, Tito’s snowboard, tickets to New England-based attractions, and gift cards to many local businesses. These items were raffled off at the end of the day in Babe’s lounge, where we celebrated the day at our Après Ski Party.
In addition to being CASA’s second-largest annual fundraiser, it also serves as a volunteer appreciation day for CASA’s advocates and their families to thank them for all of their time and hard work they commit to making sure New Hampshire’s most vulnerable children have a voice in one of the most important times of their young lives. Loon donates a full mountain experience to CASAs and their families for a fun day on the slopes.
“We’re really, really grateful for that wonderful gift from Loon and for the incredible work of our advocates who are doing this every day in our courts for abused and neglected children around the state,” said CASA President and CEO Marty Sink. “What we do here today benefits all of them and helps us build our capacity to serve more children throughout New Hampshire.
Thank you Matthew Lomanno and Loon Photographer Dave Pushee for capturing our day!
