CASA/GALs Barbara O’Hern (Wolfeboro) and Ann Marie Marquis (Pittsburg) received the 2007 Citizen Leadership Awards from the New Hampshire Children’s Trust Fund.  Both were celebrated as unsung hero’s for their work to improve the lives of children and families in their communities.

The Children’s Trust Fund selected Barbara for this leadership award noting that her unassuming, gentle ways and positive role modeling was welcomed and appreciated by families with new babies as a volunteer for Good Beginnings of  Southern Carroll County. One of twenty recipients of this award, Barbara’s service for the past 6 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate was applauded as well.

Ann Marquis of Pittsburg received her leadership award for her service as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA of NH).  Ann Marie has contributed over 1,100 hours in the past 6 years while advocating for children in the North Country who have been victims of child maltreatment.  A full time police officer, Ann Marie uses her expertise in her work as a CASA/GAL to work cooperatively with the court, DCYF and parents to achieve best outcomes for each child.  Several of her cases have ended with the child being adopted into new families.  Marie and her husband live in Pittsburg where they are raising a family.
