Autumn Training Opportunities
CASA OF NH NEWS — (Aug 01, 2008) —
With so many people away on vacation during the summer months, CASA tends to concentrate training sessions during the spring and fall. Since the need for volunteers is so great, we have a full fall season ahead, with classes we hope to fill with caring adults committed to making a difference in the lives of children. CASAs are carefully screened, so be sure to apply early enough to allow for this.
In Manchester, we have an evening/weekend training scheduled for August 26 through September 13. This training meets for 5 weeknight sessions from 6-9 pm, 2 Saturdays from 8:30-4:30, and one Thursday, from 8:30-4:30.
Our final Manchester training of the year will take place in November. It is a day training and meets from 8:30-4:30 on the 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th, and 14th.
On the Seacoast, we have an evening/weekend scheduled for Dover and a day training scheduled for Portsmouth. Portsmouth Day will take place in September at the Community Campus. This training meets from 9-5 on the 9th, 11th, 15th, 17th and 19th. Dover follows, meeting for 5 evenings, one Wednesday, and two Saturdays between October 27 and November 14. This will take place in our Dover office on Broadway.
Up north, we're excited to announce three Independent Study Trainings: Plymouth, Sugar Hill, and North Conway. We know how difficult it can be to attend a training miles from home in the more rural areas of our state, and Independent Study was designed to address that. Spread over several weeks, participants gather together for six of the units (3 full days) and complete the other four "independently", submitting work to several CASA supervisors for feedback. We also schedule an informal evening for all the questions that naturally arise during the training. Plymouth is scheduled September 27 through October 18. Our Sugar Hill Training will take place at the Sunset Hill House, thanks to the generousity of innkeeper Nancy Henderson, from October 25 through November 15. North Conway Training will occur from November 8 through December 13. We welcome inquiries about these or other training opportunities.
