CASA loses one of its own….Rachel Bourbeau

CASA OF NH NEWS — (Dec 08, 2009) — Rachel L. Bourbeau, 63, died Dec. 6, 2009, at Community Hospice House, Merrimack, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Rachel was a familiar voice at CASA of New Hampshire having worked for us as a secretary/receptionist for nine years.  Rachel genuinely cared for the mission of CASA, the children we serve and the over 2,000 CASA volunteers she interacted with on a daily basis over the years.  She always took the time to acknowledge each person she spoke with and had a smile and kind word for those she greeted at the CASA office. She had a gentle teasing manner with her co-workers and a great command of the English language. She volunteered to work at many CASA events over the years and loved the personal interactions.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church, where she taught CCD and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister. Her faith was a great source of strength for her throughout her life.

An avid journaler, she chronicled the events of her life. She enjoyed artistic crafts, especially counted cross stitch and participated in many craft shows. Helping others through volunteer work gave her great joy. Rachel’s family was very important to her and she was a very proud and loving grandmother.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Wednesday, December 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday December 10 at 12:30 p.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Webster Street, Manchester. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Franklin, at a later date.
