CASA of NH 21st Annual Meeting
CASA OF NH NEWS — (Jul 01, 2010) —
On June 22, 2010 during its 21st Annual Meeting, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire celebrated the nearly 450 volunteers who advocate daily for the state’s abused and neglected children.
The 150 guests in attendance heard Honorable John Broderick, Chief Justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court praise the citizen volunteers who give selflessly to speak on behalf of those who can not speak for themselves. After Twenty-one years of operation in New Hampshire, CASA has benefited nearly 7,000 victimized children in our state. Guest speaker, Chris S. a former CASA child, shared what a difference his CASA, Antonia Andreoli made in his life as he spent his later teen years foster care.
CASA chose the evening to spotlight its volunteers, both new trainees -- who were sworn into service by Manchester Family Court Judge John Emery and those who have achieved varying milestones. Fifty CASA volunteers took home framed certificates commemorating their fifth/sixth anniversaries. Eighteen outstanding advocates were honored for their ten/eleven years of service: Mary Atwell, Debbie Clark, Laura Cryts, Katherine Drisko, Georgene Fabian, Christine Hatfield, Joel Jaffe, Bill Livingstone, Mary Kemp, Gail Landy, Susan MacKenzie, Judith May, Carole Power, Maureen Rowley, Elizabeth Seaver, Cheryl Sommese, Samuel Tobias, and Elaine Van Dyke
Additionally, Rita Morrison of Bow became the fifth participant who has given fifteen years of CASA volunteerism. A very special award was given to Livia Balling of Lee for her amazing 20 years of advocacy to children served by CASA.
