The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund provides assistance to New Hampshire’s abused and neglect children

Walter Gallo Chair of the Bishop's Charitable Assistance Fund and Marcia Sink President and CEO, CASA of NH
Court Appointed Special Advocated (CASA) of New Hampshire received a grant from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund for the purpose of supporting and sustaining CASA’s mission to provide CASA/GALs (Guardians ad Litem) for abused and neglected children in New Hampshire. The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund makes grants to tax-exempt organizations without regard to religious affiliation for projects that help people in New Hampshire meet their basic needs and for organizations addressing critical issues. The Fund is operated by volunteer lay men and women who serve as Directors and who make recommendations to the Bishop of Manchester for grants to any organization in New Hampshire whose mission is consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The Fund raises money through solicitation of individuals, businesses and philanthropic organizations. An annual accounting of funds raised and disbursements is available on their website www.catholicnh.org/BCAF.
CASA/GAL volunteers, appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children, make sure these children do not get lost in the legal and social service system. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence—the one adult who advocates only for them.
Marcia Sink, President and CEO of CASA states, “Last year, in New Hampshire, CASA/GALs helped 1179 children find safe, permanent homes. This number represents only 75 % of the NH’s children who enter our foster care system each year. With the generosity of the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund, CASA is one step closer to meeting its goal of providing a voice to every abused and neglected child.”
