Board of Directors
CASA of New Hampshire is honored to have a group of dedicated board members. These individuals provide us with their own personal donations, their strategic knowledge, and personal contacts with industry that help CASA of NH stay in business, so we can continue our fight to save the futures of NH's abused children.

Lavallee/Brensinger Architects' President Fred Urtz is well-regarded for his keen professional expertise, his leadership of a number of nonprofit organizations, and his humanitarian contributions. Born in Oneida, NY, Fred and Jill Urtz now make their home in Manchester. Fred's children include Abby 22, a college senior; Evan 18, a college freshman and two step-sons, Rob 20 entering the US Air Force; and Lex 18, a high school senior.
Fred has given generously of his time to CASA for many years, serving on its charter Advisory Committee in the early 1990's and returning to its Board of Directors in 2002. "I have always believed that our collective future is tied to our children," he affirmed. "CASA advocates for the most challenged and vulnerable of our youth and makes a clear difference in every case they undertake. Every time I hear of or see a child who has been helped by CASA, I think of the very different path that their life will take as a result. That almost mystical sense of changing the future is very compelling; I wish there were an easy way to instill that sense in every NH citizen."

Entrepreneurial by nature, Nigel has a remarkable business history and acumen in both his native England and in the USA. Born in Walton-on-Thames, England (from whence Julie Andrews also hails), he came to New Hampshire in 1988 and has, with his wife Celia and their teenage twins, become firmly rooted in the Bedford community. After thirteen years of commitment to building successful businesses in New England, Nigel turned his focus and priorities toward his family and "giving back" to the community in which he has thrived. Fortunately for CASA, in October 2003 he chose to serve victimized children in two distinctly important ways - by being trained and assigned as a court advocate and by joining its Board of Directors.
When asked why he chose to be active with CASA, Nigel replied, "Concern. Concerned to have a check and balance in the operation of these child protection and judicial processes which make life-changing decisions for children. And to have the interests of the child in those decisions represented by someone with no allegiances, other than to the well-being and best interests of the child. I worry that in CASA's absence, things might not get done that could be done, thoughts are brought forward that might not otherwise be heard."

Attorney Callaghan is a shareholder and officer at Devine Millimet & Branch PA in Manchester. He focuses his practice on commercial transactions, including complex bankruptcy reorganization matters. In such proceedings, Dan has represented clients in the acquisition of assets in Chapter 11 sales; creditors in the enforcement of their claims; and governmental entities in the protection of their regulatory, administrative and finance rights and responsibilities.
Dan was named "Top Attorney" in his area of expertise by New Hampshire Magazine and "New Hampshire Best Lawyers in America". He has provided leadership for NH Public Radio, Daniel Webster College, Americans for Campaign Reform, the NH Symphony, the Manchester Historic District, and the NH Theatre Project. Dan and wife Clare have one son and reside in Manchester.

Mr. Goodwin -- "Charlie" to most in the Manchester area -- is a valued businessman and community participant. As former Owner and past President of Goodwin Funeral Home, he has served many NH citizens with compassion and kindness. Charlie has also provided leadership to a wide assortment of Manchester organizations: Visiting Nurse Association; Boys and Girls Club; Manchester Historic Association; Rotary Club; YMCA; Currier Museum of Art; First Congregational Church; The Frederick Smyth Institute of Music; and NH Charitable Foundation.
Charlie and his wife Jaye have three children and have been supportive of CASA of NH's mission for many years. We are pleased to welcome Charlie to our Board of Directors, effective June, 2005.

A resident of Nashua, John Adams is heavily-invested in his community. He has served numerous organizations – BNI-Business Builders Chapter, Nashua Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Home Builders & Nashua Home Builders Association, among them – as president, founder, and active participant. John also energetically volunteered for many soccer-related groups as daughters Margot and Mindy and son Jack were growing up.
Mr. Adams currently works for Attotech. He and his wife Missy became aware of CASA through friends and CASA Community Receptions in their area. The message they heard about victimized children and the work CASA did to ameliorate the problems compelled the couple to seek ways to become more involved with the organization. In 2007, John was invited to join the Board of Directors and brings with him an acute interest in business, marketing and development. He will also represent the interests that Nashua holds for its children.
When asked "Why CASA?" John responded, "I find that after hearing the CASA story and listening to some of the children who CASA has helped along the way, that there is a strong driving force to want to be part of this wonderful organization. Our challenge is to spread the message far and wide allowing that compelling force to bring us legions of new volunteers and supporters at all levels."

As news anchor and Chronicle host, Tiffany Eddy knows a lot about New Hampshire. In her travels around our state, she has seen wonderful places and inspired many viewers with the stories she teases out of the cultural landscape. She has also interviewed hundreds of New Hampshire citizens, but the Granite Staters who touch her heart most are the children.
In fact, in the last few years, Tiffany has happily punctuated her WMUR TV - ABC9 career with the personal — motherhood. She and husband Danny Ryan first welcomed beautiful little daughter Meredith. Sweet baby son Garrett joined the family in August, 2008.
Ms. Eddy first became involved with CASA of NH by co-hosting its fundraising Winter Snow Golf events at Loon Mountain along with WMUR colleague Tom Griffith and radio celebrities Mark Ericson and Danielle Carrier (WOKQ). Sparked by the significant difference that citizens are making for victimized children through CASA, Tiffany readily joined its Board of Directors early in 2004. Since then, she has often assisted the organization at its events — SnowFest, CASA Comedy Night, and the Annual Fashion Show Luncheon — by serving on event committees and emceeing the festivities.

Paul's considerable talents and sincere, genial demeanor are assets to his position as Secretary for Real Estate at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester. In that role, he is responsible for all Diocesan properties -- including buying, selling, and building churches.
With genuine concern for and commitment to our child-centered mandates, Paul joined the CASA Board of Directors in June 2008. We are convinced that his professionalism and conscientious hard work will significantly impact our forward progress. Especially as CASA of New Hampshire embarks on new physical plant challenges and opportunities, Paul's expertise will be invaluable.
Other community involvement for Paul is the Manchester FIre Commission and Catholic Medical Center Property Committee. He and his wife Debbie live in Manchester.

In 1994, Gerri Moriarty came to CASA of New Hampshire and was activated as a Guardian ad Litem. Nearly 400 hours and 1,700 miles worth of service later, she has safeguarded the best interests of thirteen children. For our benefit, Gerri now translates that grassroots experience into broader policy-making and governance on the CASA Board of Directors.
Ms. Moriarty, who has a BS in Computer Science and an MBA in General Business, has parlayed her skills in sales, project management, and communications into multiple layers of business development. Currently, she is a Manager at Segway, Inc. and responsible for developing and incubating business relationships for the Segway Personal Transporter. She is a product expert on the mechanical, electrical, and software of, and human interaction with, the innovative technology.
A resident of Hollis, Gerri knows the true value of involvement in her community. Besides her advocacy through CASA, she was a volunteer on-air reader for the Talking Information Radio Reading Service to the blind and visually impaired. She was also Founder and President of the New England Women’s Cycling Club which organized women’s racing series, garnered sponsorships and support for the sport, and encouraged national and international cycling competitors.

As the president of the Bedford-based and management firm JFR Consulting, LLC, Frank advises a broad range of construction, distribution, and manufacturing companies. He joined the CASA Board of Directors in February of 2008 and brings to our governing body his boundless enthusiasm, sound business acumen, and a great desire to help New Hampshire's most vulnerable citizens. Frank also draws a wealth of experience and knowledge of nonprofit organizations from previous and current volunteerism: the Boards of Manchester Music, School and Derryfield School; Director of A.B.C. Builders and A.E.P.; United Way; Easter Seals; Derry Rotary Club; and Breast Cancer Walks.
Frank and his wife June are residents of Bedford. They have two adult children -- a daughter Joyia and a son James -- and two amazing grandsons, Jackson and Sam.
CASA of New Hampshire has already benefited greatly from Frank's can-do spirit and dynamic use of networking skills for the sake of victimized children. We look forward to the strides he will help us achieve in his tenure as a CASA Board member.

As parents of four children - Alex, Meghan, Grant, and Garrett - Manchester residents Greg Timbas and his wife Claire Timbas are firm believers in building a strong community for their own family and for other children who need staunch advocates in their lives. CASA of New Hampshire and Greg, therefore, find a perfect pairing of corporate and personal missions.
In his professional life, Greg is a financial advisor and stockbroker at Edward Jones Investments in Manchester. His strong work ethic in business also translates into his civic and nonprofit service - as a member of the Queen City Rotary Club (a long-time supporter of CASA); Chairman of the Manchester Fire Commission; past-President of the Queen City Kiwanis Board; St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral; and past-Chairman of NH's Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
CASA of New Hampshire is gratified by Greg's willingness to join its Board in June 2008, and we eagerly anticipate that his energetic involvement will advance many fronts in our effort to protect and enable children toward hopeful futures.
